November Admin with Ruh – Meeting Notes

November Admin Meeting Notes

Br. Omar Khan, from Ruh:

In the first half of November’s Admin Meeting, we were honored to have Br. Omar Khan from Ruh.

In summary, Br. Omar Khan from RuhCare provided a comprehensive overview of the virtual platform, emphasizing its support for ISLA and the broader mission of destigmatizing mental health within the Islamic education community. The platform, initially conceived as a mindfulness app during the pandemic, has evolved to integrate clinical psychology and Islamic principles, offering exercises tailored for anxiety and stress.

The RuhCare directory, boasting 600 therapists across 17 countries, stands as the world’s largest global directory, complemented by the recent addition of online therapy services through an EHR system. Initiatives like the Ramadan challenge campaign and collaborations with mosques and high schools underscore RuhCare’s commitment to destigmatizing mental health.

Addressing the ISLA community’s specific needs, three free resources have been initiated:

  1. Free Therapy Sessions for Palestine: Accessible through www.ruhcare.com/palestine, individuals can book sessions with therapists across various regions.
  2. Healing Circles: Schools can request these sessions, facilitated by therapists, to address emotions like anger and frustration, open to both students and staff.
  3. Training for Educators: A session dedicated to crisis management, providing support to students, and addressing emotions. The registration link will be shared, and attendees will receive the recording.

These resources aim to provide immediate support during the current crisis, with the free therapy initiative anticipated to continue for three to six months. For any inquiries, administrative staff from Islamic Schools are encouraged to reach out to Br. Omar: omar@ruhcare.com
