Overview

One of ILM’s top priorities is to create an environment and structure that allows all students to engage in experiences that prepare them for the future. As we embark on a start of Islamic Scholar program. 

We are glad to announce that we have 3 open positions to join our team and we are looking for the following qualifications: 

Job Goal

The Islamic Studies teacher provides instruction for students in pursuit to become Islamic scholar. Students will range from ages 12 through 25 divided into middle school, high school and college age groups. This teacher creates an educational atmosphere where students are granted the opportunity to fulfill their potential of becoming knowledgeable and productive Muslims. The teacher is the role model and mentor of children and should aim to lead students to discover the beauty of Islam to apply knowledge into beneficial actions. Creates lesson plans, instructs students in Qur’an, and Islamic Studies. Creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. Delivers the required curriculum with an Islamic perspective while integrating Islamic morals and values. 

Primary responsibilities 

Provide a positive example to students by supporting ILM School’s mission of educating the next generation of Muslims who seek guidance 

through the Quran and practices of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  1. Basic understanding of children’s emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs. 
  2. Ability to multi-task. 
  3. Ability to organize effectively through adequate planning.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing. 
  5. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with administration, students, staff, and the school community to promote a collaborative professional environment. 
  6. Ability to relate well with children, deal with student problems and maintain effective classroom discipline. 
  7. Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
  8. Engage students through diversified learning activities.
  9. Maintain a learning environment that is safe and student friendly.
  10. Provides clear learning goals with an identified objective and provides rubrics for tracking student progress. 
  11. Establishes classroom rules and procedures through the practice of routines.
  12. Helps students interact with new information by identifying critical information, chunking, and elaborating on new information, and recording knowledge. 
  13. Helps students practice and deepen new knowledge by using and practicing learning skills and strategies. 
  14. Effectively plan and prepare for lessons and units by scaffolding information into the lessons. 
  15. Creates or selects evaluation strategies that are appropriate for the students and that are aligned with the goals of the lesson.
  16. Plans and prepares for the use of available resources and technology including traditional resources as well as newer tools.
  17. Plans and prepares for the needs of students who lack support from home, in the English language and/or Arabic language.
  18. Promotes positive interactions with the school board, colleagues, students, and parents. 
  19. Seeks mentorship for the areas of need or interest. 
  20. Shares ideas and strategies with other teachers. 
  21. School and Individual Advancement 
  22. Uses resources effectively. 
  23. Adheres to school rules, policies, and values.

Qualifications 

  1. Islamic scholar of Ahl Sunnah wal Jama’ (Required)
  2. Teaching experience: 2 years (Required) 
  3. Work authorization (Required)
  4. Bachelor’s (Preferred) 
  5. Teaching Certification or Ijaza
  6. Self-starter
  7. Strong Interpersonal Skills
  8. Basic computer knowledge

Pay: $32-$45/hr DOE

Duration: August to June, 3 days per week (Tue, Wed, Thu) 5:30-7:30 pm
