ISLA is excited to provide two types of scholarships to the ISLA Leadership Retreat this year!
Two Types of Scholarships
- General Scholarship
- UMR Emerging Leader Scholarship
Please carefully review the eligibility criteria before applying. If you have questions about the scholarships, please email us at info@theisla.masjidapps.net.
General Scholarship
This scholarship was made available through generous contributions from educators like you! This scholarship is intended to assist Islamic schools with limited funding or budgets to still participate in the ISLA Leadership Retreat. Due to the limited scholarships available, only one General Scholarship per school will be awarded; partial scholarships are also available, if funding permits.Â
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time staff at a full-time Islamic School
- Ability to stay for entire retreat
Priority Criteria*
- Full-time Islamic school administratorÂ
- Leader of a school who has never attended the retreat
- School has less than 200 students and/or is less than three years old
- School serves predominantly low-income households
- Limited ability/inability to pay for registration, i.e. school has no eligible funding to apply from Title II, Title IV or school budget monies.
Ineligibility Criteria
- ISLA Staff, Board or their immediate relatives
Application Deadline and Process
Scholarship applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until October 1, 2019, or until scholarship monies run out.
ISLA will review the applications as they are received and reply to participants within two weeks. Applicants selected for the scholarship must confirm their commitment to attending the entire ISLA retreat by making a $50.00 deposit. The amount will be refunded to the recipient after the retreat.Â
*Please note that the Priority Criteria allow us to narrow down and select recipients when there are more applicants than monies available. We encourage anyone who is interested and able to attend the entire retreat to apply, but unable to cover their entire registration cost, to apply for the scholarship. As much as possible, we want to help break economic barriers to attendance and help those who can create change in their schools to attend the Leadership Retreat.
Apply For ScholarshipUMR Emerging Leader Scholarship
This scholarship is made through a generous contribution from UMR.
By having a team of three or more staff at the retreat, the likelihood of being able to implement any take-aways from the retreat and into the school and classroom increases. The UMR Emerging Leaders Scholarship intends to assist with this by helping Islamic schools send a change-making team to the ISLA Leadership Retreat. This is why the UMR Emerging Leaders Scholarship can be used for up to two staff members from one school.
